Labour Day Weekend Events!

As the Labour Day weekend approaches, along with the majority of our members returning to work on Tuesday, Monday is Labour Day. Labour Day is a celebratory day in recognition of the success and sacrifices that the labour movement has had in its history. These successes have included the outlaw of Child Labour, the introduction of the 40-hour work week, and the corresponding creation of the weekend. Despite all of these successes, especially in the area of Health and Safety, workers continue to be injured at work, so we still have work to do, even in our workplace.

This weekend is your chance to come out and participate in the recognition of Labour movement. Barrie and Orillia Labour Councils are hosting Labour Day events. OPSEU Local 330 representatives will be at both events and would love to see you out. See the flyer links below for the details of time and locations.

Bill 115 Remedy Update

The Ministry has been provided the member names and payout amounts for those that worked for SCDSB as an OPSEU member in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. We are now waiting for the Ministry to advise the school boards and release the funds. Once I receive an update from OPSEU and/or the school board that the Ministry has released the funds and when payout can be expected I will send out another update.
