Violence in the Workplace Rally

Violence in the Workplace Rally at the Education Centre

Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 at 5:15-7:15 pm

Please join us outside the Simcoe County District School Board Office for the “Violence in the Workplace-Take Action Now!” Rally. We will be sharing information to the public, the trustees, and other people attending the October 25th Board meeting.

We want the school board to take immediate action on addressing workplace violence, for all school board employees and students. We want staff safety a priority; concerns regarding transitions and transition planning addressed to ensure staff and student safety; recognition and compliance with Risk Assessments and Re-Assessments; staff and Supervisors trained to ensure an understanding of the Ontario Health and Safety Act, and the requirements of advising staff of potential risks they may encounter when working with students with a violent history; and compliance when working with the Joint Health and Safety Committee representatives.

Please come and help us share this message! Its time for them to “take action!”

The rally will take place between 5:15-7:15 pm. Rally participants are encouraged to wear reflective clothing, as it may be dark. We will provide reflective tape and have some safety reflective vests that people can wear. Light refreshments will be provided by OPSEU Local 330.

You are encouraged to park at the carpool lot at the Hwy 26/27 junction and carpool close to the entrance of the Board Office.  Keep in mind if you are making any signs that they would need to show up in the dark.  You may also want to bring flashlights.

If you have any questions please contact opseu330@bellnet.ca or call the office at 705-739-7232.
